Featherbed Eggs

A great easy dish that you can prep the day before and bake in the morning.

6 slices bread (square cut white is just fine)
2 T butter
salt & pepper to taste
1 1/2 C grated melting cheese (4 cheese combo pack is nice)
1 1/2 C whole milk
6 eggs, beaten
1 lb cooked loose sausage, drained

cook sausage and drain
cover the dish bottom with a thin layer of melted butter
cover the dish bottom with bread slices
sprinkle salt & pepper
cover evenly with grated cheese
blend milk & eggs, then pour over the bread & cheese
spread sausage on top
cover and refrigerate 6 hours or overnight

put in cold oven
bake at 350 for 1 hour
bottom should be golden
