Phonetic spelling of traditional Slovak stuffed cabbage passed down from Baba to Mam Mam to Babi to G.  Its so easy and delicious you'll kick yourself for not trying it years ago.

1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground pork
1 onion chopped
1/2 c uncooked rice (brown or white)
2 eggs
salt & pepper to taste (easy on the salt)
2 28 oz can crushed tomatoes in sauce
1 cabbage (regular or savoy)
cook rice
while rice is cooking peel off whole leaves of cabbage
cut out large veins (this will split leaves in half)
mix rice, beef, pork, onion, salt & pepper in bowl
pam a 9x12 baking dish
form a football shaped portion of mixture, wrap with one leaf, and place in baking dish
pour tomatoes over halupki in dish
bake at 350 for 1 hour
