Pennsylvania Barbeque

If you ever went to a pot luck event in Eastern PA you had some of this, unless you got there late. Some might call these Sloppy Joes, but in NJ that's an entirely different cold deli sandwich.  We don't measure on this one any more.

1 med onion chopped fine
1 lb lean ground beef
1 t onion powder
¼ t black pepper
1 large can crushed tomatoes in thick puree
1 T yellow prepared mustard
2 T cider vinegar
2 T brown sugar
3 T worcestershire
sauté the onion in a little bit of oil until it starts to caramelize
add ground beef, onion powder and black pepper and sauté til done
add the remaining ingredients and simmer for ½ hour

after browning you can put the ingredients in a crock pot to cook and serve

serve open-faced on any bread or on a soft hamburger bun
goes good with creamed cukes on the side
